Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

The aroma has lightly toasted malt, nuts, and maple syrup with some coffee. The appearance is red brown with a tiny head. The flavor is bittersweet with only a little bit of maple syrup. The palate is thin. The aftertaste is like apricots. Overall it’s not bad but I was expecting a lot better.

Pours a clear copper brown with very light white head. Aroma is nut and malts with caramel notes. The flavor is very nutty with a light sweetness. Don’t perceive any hints of maple.

A good beer with a dark pour and foamy head. Has a odd smell and tastes almost chocolatey with a maple taste. Very thick with a toasted finish.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Nut brown, airy head. Light roasty nose. Medium sweet with rounded Medium bodied and mildy caramelly. Lightly fruity and roasty without getting sticky. A drinker friendly laid back beer.

$1.49 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, maple syrup-colored brown body with a small, white head. Smell: Toasty, nutty maltiness with a sweetened cocoa note and a distant maple character like driving past an IHOP. Taste: Sweetish mixture of cocoa, caramel, nuts and toast make up the maltiness. Light maple syrup character that grows and develops with each sip. Slight spicy hop component shows up but quickly drops out, leaving the beer to finish almost as sweet as it starts. Starts reminding me of a soda before long. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Decent malt profile and the addition of maple syrup does it’s best to try and spruce up the standard brown ale, a beer many find outright boring.
