Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Bottle. Dark brown, almost no head. Super sweet, syrupy flavor and aroma. Lots of honey, maple, and burnt sugar. The excessive sweetness and smokey finish don’t make this all that easy to drink for as light as the alcohol is. Not terrible, but not very good either.

Bottle. Aroma of sweet malts along with some nut and maple. Deep red body with beige creamy head and good amount of lacing. Body texture is thin with sweet maple and caramel flavor. Has the cola carbination to it also, like the flavor of sweer cola. Easy on the palae with some sweet maple left on the palate.. Alright brew.

Well so far, Tommyknocker is 0-3. I got this as part of the trail mix multi pack, and so far, it’s they’ve all been far from impressive. This pours a very dark reddish brown. The slight aroma that it does have is sweet, with hints of burnt sugar. The flavor is almost an afterthought, which is very subtle maple, and slightly malty. I will never buy this, or tommyknocker again.

Bottled - GBBF 2008. A dark brown coloured beer. An excellent chocolaty, bready beer throughout. Some roast and sour sourness also. A really tasty beer with good body and good complexity. Enjoyed this a lot.

Bottle poured to glass. Pours watery brown with gold hightlights and small tan head. Smells of maple, nuts, and malts. Smooth nutty flavor and maple notes(More like the wood and not at all syrupy.) Creative idea but not very well executed in my opinion.

Cask at GBBF 08. Deep brown in colour with a good aroma of maple and roasted nuts. Has a decent weight and a robust caramel and maple flavour. A good ale.

This beer poured a dark brown color with nice lacing left around the glass. The aroma was of nuts and naturally a subtle hint of maple syrup. The flavor and body were very smooth with notes of toasted bread, barley, oatmeal and a slight bit of cream. The body is very sweet, and so is the finish and aftertaste. I didn’t taste a whole lot of the advertised maple syrup, so I was a little disappointed. But it’s still a bit better than most average brown ales.

Smells syrupy sweet. Very malty in the smell. Oatmeal cereal with milk smell. Dark brown body with bubbly thin cream head. Taste is very light and sweet. It tastes a little like maple but something else sweet there that I can’t quite place. Not bad but I couldn’t drink too much.
