Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Damn! What a low rating for an ok beer... Well aroma is sweet maple sugar. Taste is sweet maple syrup. It is a little watery.... Also caramel, roasted malt and hint of chocolate. Not bad, just a little thin. An ok beer obvoiusly not my favorite brown ale but ok...Thanks StFun!

Pours a dark brown with an off-white head. Malts and maple with hint of hops on the palate. Nose of maple. Average beer.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades quickly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Clear mahogany color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Malty maple nose. Flavor is sweet maple smooth, hops balance but are in background. $1.80 for a 12oz bottle from Yankee Spirits South Attleboro, Ma.

On tap at the Brewery. Nut browns can be a wonderful treat to the inexperience, or pro. Unfortunately, this is not it! Heavy-handed on the maple, and just not any fun to drink. Oh well.

12oz single from Total Wine. Amber brown beer with a small offwhite head. Sweet malt aroma. Sweet, nutty, and maple flavors up front. A bit of weird chemical character was present initially but faded quickly. Disappointed at the low abv, but I suppose some people like that. Tasted a lot better than I expected for this brewer. One of my least favorite brewers. Not bad for a brown ale, in spite of the low abv.

Bottle purchased at D’s Six Pax. Pours hazy orange brown, thin white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, roasted nuts. Flavor is slightly smokey, malty, roasty. Not terrible, but I’ve had better.

Bottle from a sampler. Dark brown pour with no head. Nutty maple aroma. Nutty maple taste. This really lives up to its name. If you’re not a fan of maple, you’ll find the taste a bit much, but if you love maple like me, this is pretty good.

Pours a dark nut brown color with a thin tan head, and leaves some minor laceing along the sides of the glass. the nose is very tart with hints of roasted walnut and some sweet caramelized sugar. Initially the flavor is full of walnut and other roasted nuts and malt. there is also some slight tart and sweet maple sugar tartness. The maple syrup is very potent only when the beer is in your mouth. After it has gone down your throat there is an after taste of nuts that sticks on your palate for quite sometime. Overall it is an alright beer, it is kind of like a sour ale but a very weak one at that.
