Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

The color is dark brown absent of head. The smell is malty, nutty, a hint of yeast. absent of hops but a note of maple. The taste is thin watery no body. The maple flavor come out in the finish. Would be a great beer if it had some backbone to it.

Dark and clear. Absence of any hop balance in flavor and aroma to the malty sweetness is a down side. Slightly lacking in color and head.

Clear garnet with a frothy tan head, nice lacing. Nice nutty malt smell. Light body with a chalky mouthfeel. Taste is sour malt and not much else. The freshness date on the bottle is recent, and this one came in a 12pack of mixed TK brews that were decent enough.Bad batch? 102906

Smells good like breakfast in the mornin’. A medium dark brown ale with a sugary taste and nutty aftertaste. Not really like beer. More like pancakes in a blender.

Pours a brown color with an off white head. Has a roasted aroma and a sweet nutty flavor. Has a thin feel to it, a bit watery like many other brown ales, but it has a nice flavor.

Poured from bottle. Dark brown/reddish. Nice aroma of sweet malt, nuts, and a hint of syrup. Palate is full but a little oily. Flavor is nice and sweet, with a hint of nuttiness (especially in the finish), and is absent of any real hop flavor. Mostly tastes of sweet malt with a little nuttiness. Lacks complexity, but a nice autumn beer. The first half is better than the second half.

Deep dark shades of brow with a ruby tint and a very thin tan head that tops the beer. Aroma of raisins, caramel malt, nuts and sweet toffee. Medium-bodied; Sweet taste of maple syrup, raisins and some other pit fruits with a very mild maltiness and no hops at all to speak of. Aftertaste shows no nuts, but a fair amount of sweetness. Overall, this one is very sweet and sort of off-balanced throughout. It’s worth trying if you like browns or sweeter beers, but otherwise - you could overlook this one and never question it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 18-November-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

This is a very nice drinkable beer. The color was the color of maple syrup (surprise) with a nice cap of bubbles. The nose was a little underwhelming, I was expecting a little more but it was pleasant once I found it. Maple? Didn’t really smell it. Taking a sip I was expecting more maple I guess. After all Maple is ON the lable but was not really tasted until the very end as it was washing down the throat. The overall taste was more nutty actually. Medium to light medium body which was sad. Overall I liked the beer but it was more of a drinking beer as opposed to a tasting beer . . . .if that makes any sense.
