Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Somewhat hazy appearance. There is a very slight maple flavor that comes forth. Other than that, an OK, but somewhat mundane, brown ale.

Draft at Brew Ha Ha Cincinnati. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a small off white head. The aroma is medium sweet, caramel malt, a hint of maple and light nuts. The flavor was very light is all areas but similar to the aroma. The maple and nut flavors are weak at best. Not much bitterness to speak of with this one. Light body.

Bottle. Pours brown with a spare, fizzy off-white head, diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, nutty, meal), light hops (herbs), average yeast (sweat, dough) with notes of dates and maple syrup. Light bodied, gritty texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity and bitterness.

A deep amber color with a thick head. The aroma was that of both nutty and slight maple but more with molasses. This beer had a deep flavor and was fun to drink. A deep rich malty flavor and finished sort of sweet.

NIce sweet malty flavor, but I was hoping the maple would be a little stronger. Mouthfeel is a little flat, but overall a decent beer.

(Bottle) I’ve got to say I was a little disappointed with this one. Pours a dark brown color, with just a slight bit of head. Seemed porter-like, with lots of toffee and brown sugar and lesser amounts of cocoa and nut. Having said that, the aroma was rather lackluster, with only the slightest hint of some dusty malts. Somewhat astringent towards the end, and too sweet overall. I’ve had better.

bottle - Pours dark brown with a two finger head. The light aroma is of sour malts. Odd. The flavor is malty and sour. I think it’s infected and I do see a few other reviewers mentioning the infection problem. There’s not much else here. It’s thin, watery, and sour. Not good. It’s nothing like some of the other reviews mention (chocolate, caramel, etc. Nope. Unpleasant, sour crap.). They put out an infected batch. The more I drink, the worse it gets. Terrible. I’m draining pouring the last bit.
