Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Aroma was of maple and malts. Very different. Started off kind of sweet but finished with a little bite of bitterness. Very weak.

Deep dark brown pour, nowhere near black. There was a small fast fading tan collection of bubbles that were supposed to be the head. The maple sweetness dominates the aroma, with highlights of roasted malts. The flavor is interesting, the maple is still there, not nearly as strong as the aroma leads you to expect. The malts aren’t roasty, instead they are caramel and sweet. Finish is fast. The overall beer is too thin to be a good beer, this has potential. It was only ok at best.

After having the Impy version of this I cracked the regular. BIIG disappointment. It was basically an "ok" looking brown ale in appearance. Flavor wise it was a watery brown ale with no maple flavor and an off sour finish. Glad I only had 2 bottles of this in my stash. I’d advise to pass unless the afore mentioned is your thing.

Bottle from Total Wine. Typical brown ale with your not so typical ingredient: maple syrup. The maple syrup makes this average beer a step up to very good. Nice aroma of maple and malts. I might buy a 6 pack of this.

Bottle. Coudy dark brown color. White head which evaporates quickly. Sugary maple and malt aroma. A heavier body than most brown ales with a tingly carbonation kick not evident in its flat appearance. Rich malt flavour and as the label states - maple and nut as well. It has an overly sweet finish. Not wonderful, but exactly as advertised.

Bottled (thanks Degarth). Nutbrown colour with beige small head. Aroma is maple, malts, caramel, nuts and some slight syrupy notes. Flavour is maple nuts, some caramel and slight roasted malts. Quite watery.

Reddish brown color, small off-white head. Cracker malty and hoppy nose, hints of milk chocolate and toasted nuts there too. Very watery, nutty malty flavor. Mildly syrupy and chocolaty. Quite light and a bit sweet beer. Easy to drink, easy to forget.

This is an older bottle I brought home from Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin USA. Serving it room temp. Poured with a big head that quickly subsided to a light cover. Almost no lace. Brown with hints of copper red. Aroma is of maple, bread, malt, caramel, and nuts. Flavor’s about the same. Had this before and it was much better. Then it could have been a sesion beer. They occasionally have it on draft at Bodega too.
