Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

(bottle). Dark brown color. Small tan head. Sweet maple syrup and malt aroma. Flavors of light malt and maple syrup, with very light coffee. Short duration. Smooth finish. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Spare lacing.

Pours a dark mahogany with very little head. Aroma - definite maple & sweet caramel malt. Taste is sweet, maple syrup, honey, nutty, caramel & bread dough, maybe a hint of coffee. Body is thin w/ low carbonation. This has a decent flavor, but is almost sickinly sweet. Definitely couldn’t do more than one. Tastes like your eating pancakes with syrup & nuts. Again, decent flavor but too sweet, thin and flat.

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: amber ruby with touch of brown. White contrasting light top. 3+
Nose: Caramel with maple , touch of chocolate and toffee , some woody hints as well.
Flavor/Palate : fairly flat. Basically flavor summary what aroma shown. Lacking spark. Hint of roast was some positive. Forgettable ale.

This was my favorite of the tommyknocker brews I’ve tried thus far. Maple syrup brown color with a small light tan head. Aroma was caramel, toffee and maple syrup. Caramely chocolate taste. Pretty decent little brew.

Source:12 oz bottle.
Glass:Pint.
Appearance:Dark brown pour with a two finger off white head.
Aroma:Heavy with sweet malts, caramel, toffee, molasses, maple syrup.
Flavor:Caramel malt and a metallic finish. Didn’t get much of the aroma.
Palate:Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall:Aroma gave it promise, but the flavor was lacking.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a deep brown with a just off-white head. The nose has a great combination of caramel and German character malts, along with some nice notes of maple syrup. The palate is certainly malt-forward, bringing a nice level of complexity and flavor. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this beer is its low abv. A whole lot of flavor packed into a relatively small amount of malt. The finish was sweet, but the carbonation allowed the beer to be easily drinkable and not cloying.
