Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Quite a credible amber ale. Caramel color with no head to speak of. An aroma of syrup and lightly roasted nuts. Tastes lightly of syrup, balanced off by walnuts, caramel, and the tiniest bit of cream. A bit sweet, but otherwise, not bad at all.

Thin and on the sour side. Acrid, dry, and not a whole lot else. What a mess.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours brown with an off-white head. aroma of sweet caramel malts, nuts and yeast. The flavor is sour fruit, maple, and caramel. Thin body and weak.

Nice color, white head and a touch of lacing. Nutty aroma and no touch of Maple in the flavor. Smooth and malty with a good finish. Nothing notable, but solid caramel.

Bottle. Sweet, nutty, caramelly aroma does feature some maple and is predominately malty. Dark red (brown) body with strong visicarb and a creamy, sticky beige head. Malty and sweet taste, medium body is occasionally watery. Caramel is strongest, but syrupy notes and restrained nuttiness lurk. Like many Browns, lacking in "explosive" flavor. Reasonably balanced and a little milky. I will take this over the Xingu I had earlier, though.

12 oz bottle Aroma of lightly toasted nuts and diacetyl with a bit of sourness as well. Flavour is pretty nasty. Sour and thin-bodied with a greasy buttery flavour. Slightly grainy with no maple character to speak of. Blech.

Aroma is chocolate and shit. Swill smells better. A dark brown appearance. The flavor is really sour but not in a good way. Nutmeg and syrup with a dirty towel thrown in the glass. Musty old socks. An aftertaste of Listerine. This may be one of the worst beer Ive ever had.

Great beer to drink any time. It may be dark in color, but it isn’t thick and heavy like other brown ales.
