Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Pours nice brown color with ok effervescence. Then things went downhill from there. Not much lacing. Yeasty aroma. Not much maple syrup flavor came through. Finish notes were bitter, hoppy. I think there are better brown ales available.

Pours brown with a nice nutty, maple aroma. Flavor is very sweet and syrupy. Could use a little balance.

This is brown water that kind of smells good. Almost no head, and certainly no flavor. Budweiser is more identifiable from water than this. Steer clear.

12 oz bottle pour into shaker. "Drink within 4 months of March 2008," so this bottle is a few months overdue. Hopefully it won’t affect it too much. Pours a dark, but clear red-brown. Thick, frothy off-white head craters as it dissolves. Roasty aroma. Matly aroma. Nuts in there too. Matly flavor with slight nut in the beginning. Not picking up on too much maple. Wonderful nut finish comes about 5-10 seconds after swallowing! Slighty dry, but very nutty finish. Notes: This is my first "Nut Brown Ale" so the high ranking comes from my surprise that these things actually taste like nuts! This could be my new favorite beer style.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2008. Dark amber color. Strong aroma and flavor of rye bread. Too sweet and syrupy.

Bottle. Sweet aroma, with definite maple notes. Brown body, small head. Flavor is a disappointment, compared to the aroma. Overly mild, although not unpleasant.

This poured a nice brown color with an off white head. Aroma was roasted malts, brown sugar and nuts. Flavor was very nutty, and quite pleasing, better than I would have expected. The maple flavor is almost not there at all.
