Commercial Description:
A delicate amount of Maple syrup is added to each barrel of our award winning Maple Nut Brown Ale to impart roasted sweetness. This addition balances the nut flavor produced by Munich caramel and chocolate malts used in the brewhouse, producing a drinkable dark amber ale with a relatively low alcohol content. 2000 World Beer Cup Gold Medal & 1996 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner

Bottle. Red brown with a small head. Aromas are sweet malts with fudge. Some hints of honeyed sweetness with smoky notes. Flavours are sweet weetabix malts with syrup and caramel. A decent malty brew.

Like another poster stated, I am surprised by the lower than expected ratings of this beer. Had this for the first time at Beerfest in Raleigh NC and it is now available in bottles in the area - pours a nice dark brown with a thick head. Nice maple, molasses and malt aroma - sweet tasting with a brown sugar, molasses and maple flavoring that did not overwhelm - done just right. This is a nice winter drinking beer and I really enjoy this one.

Wow...surprised at the ranking here. Poured a deep brown with a good head. The beer has a caramelly aroma and the flavor is very clean with hints of maple and caramel. There is a base here of a solid brown ale with just enough sweetness to make it interesting but not over the top. I really enjoyed this one.

Draught: Deep chocoalte in color with a thin tan head. Distinct smell with obvious maple hints. Tastes of sweet maple with roasted malts. Not too bad, but would appreciate a more bitter taste with alcohol hints.

decent head with mild maple aroma. taste is nutty maltiness with a bit of the maple flavor in the background. washes cleanly over the palette with a little hoppiness. its ok, not a repeat drinker.
