richlikebeer (747), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 18, 2007 second varietal from this brewer that i have opened in the same weekend...same acetal aroma and not alot of what was supposed to be there...flavor is slightly tart due to the first signs of an infection and the head on the pour was a little overly effervescant and foamy. the date on the bottle was Oct 2006, and they recommend drinking it within 4 months, so by that rational, i am only a couple weeks outside their window...not that i am any kind of expert, but i hope they check into their bottling situation at
Tommyknocker and refine their sterilization a bit. 2 beers i was very much looking forward to....2 disappointing results.
DandyWolfFloyd (254), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle says maple syrup, but its aroma is more like molasses. I’m not really smelling maple. It’s appearance is dark brown amber, with a thin white head that falls to almost nothing. It’s flavor is nice maple, but probaly molasses adjuncts, not lots of malt body. It’s refreshing and smooth a nice light velvetyness. unclemike (374), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Oct 4, 2008 The aroma has lightly toasted malt, nuts, and maple syrup with some coffee. The appearance is red brown with a tiny head. The flavor is bittersweet with only a little bit of maple syrup. The palate is thin. The aftertaste is like apricots. Overall it’s not bad but I was expecting a lot better.
Tripplebrew (285), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours a clear copper brown with very light white head. Aroma is nut and malts with caramel notes. The flavor is very nutty with a light sweetness. Don’t perceive any hints of maple. nchomefinder (20), USA Sep 28, 2008 Charlotte Oktoberfest. med brown color, creamy head, sweet flavor, can taste the maple. it was okay. could have been better. Neematoad (61), , Illinois, USA Sep 27, 2008 A good beer with a dark pour and foamy head. Has a odd smell and tastes almost chocolatey with a maple taste. Very thick with a toasted finish.
