Flavor mirrors aroma with a hint of abv. A bit of a funky after taste but still a pretty decent beer. Just a tad thin as well. Suttree (2750), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Brownish rugby, smallish head. Smells like bourbon, brown sugar, and molasses. Flavor is a little overly boozy at first, but seems to settle down a bit as I continue to drink. Bourbona nd brown sugar and molassess again in the flavor. Small bit of alcohol heat in the finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2009 12oz bottle enjoyed all to myself. Pours a translucent purple with red coolaid highlights and some large bubble ring of light tan head. Nose is slightly smoked with hints of vanilla oak. Flavor does not dissapoint, plum, rum, oak, smoke, and just a hint of alcohol. Sweet caramel and raisins on the finish. A little thin cardboard on the palate, but this is a great beer! alagnak (381), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 17, 2009 Draft @ Falling Rock. Nose and flavor sare one over-riding theme - this is Bacon in a glass - heavy aromas and flvbor of hardwood smoke and some pepper. Almost a bit much to take right off, but as I made it to the bottom of the glass, other flavors of vanilla and some sweet toffee came together and balanced out the smoky bacon-ness. ALl in all, I enjoyed this one, and it’s a really intertesting and well-done beer (from a brewery of which I’m not a general fan), though not sure I could have another. nuplastikk (1259), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 12, 2009 12oz bottle. Deep ruby red-brown, with a patchy off-white head. Sweet alcohol-laced malty aroma, some solid Oak coming through. What a great combination of tastes, the sweetness of the Doppelbock with smoky woodiness of the Oak. Comes off almost like a strong vanilla Rauchbier. Solid vanilla notes. Inventive and delicious. DJMonarch (6941), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Dark brown with a small head-very cold. Nose is woody, malty. Flavors of wood, alcohol, spices, a bit sweet. Thick and chewy. Good beer. redlight (1499), Winter Park, Florida, USA
