Commercial Description:
Oaked Butt Head combines our award winning Butt Head Bock with finely toasted oak. The vanilla and spice character of the oak melds with the malty caramel flavors of our dopplebock

Pours a clear, dark, reddish-amber color with a small, beige colored film for a head. Minimal spotting noted. The nose is quite smoky, which caught me by total surprise. Notes of toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and maple are all permeated by a distinct smokiness that goes so far as being borderline meaty. Floral and earthy hops complete the aroma. Flavors introduce some dark fruity notes, while more smoked caramel malts and vanilla laden, toasted oak shine through. Finishing on the peppery side, some of the earthy hops really end strong. Te substantial palate borrows a little bit of body from the sugar content, though the carbonation levels are just right. Nice brew. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Poured a clear copper color with a large off-white head. Oaky and smoky aroma. Toasted caramel malts with some vanilla mixed in. Woody smoked flavor with brown sugar and a touch of fruit. Semi-dry phenolic finish. Almost a medium body.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with an off white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film and collar that leaves some lacing. The aroma is a little subdued - sweet caramel malts, smoke and vanilla. The flavor is kind of watery and subdued. It has some sweet malts and smoke and some pepper. As it warms, more flavor comes out. The alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit pricey for what you get. I liked the smokey notes.

Copper color with a diminished beige head. Strange aromas. I first thought it was iodine, but now I’m smelling boston peanuts, peat and orange peels. Sugary caramel and lightly toasted nuts in the flavor. Some floral hops in the background. dryish finish and some caramel and lemon peel in the linger. Some oak flavors come through here and there, but the beer seems to simple to support it, like some oak aged light lagers I have had. Not enough malt depth to support the process. Starts to feel boozy, like a shot of Jack in a can of lite.

Clear caramel brown body, thin buff head. Buttery oak nose, musty with syrupy, tart malts and some sourness. Oaky body, earthy and buttery, with syrupy, sweet caramels. Strange palate, watery yet rough and unrefined. I feel no love, much less like.

12oz Bottle. Slight salt, walnut oil, and some distant esters. Quiet. Pours a clear red-brown, with a soapy head in brazil nut flesh. Flavor comes across as cheap brandy, sulfite heavy wine, and tired port. Very vinous and sappy. Very, very little malt body to back up the old port character. There’s little beer left in this. I just get syrupy port character. Not that good. Thanks Sean!

Pour is a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a little smoky, earthy and bourbon. Flavor is a bit of dark fruit with some brown sugar and if you let it roll over the tounge enough times the barrel flavors do come out. It is what it advertises and its a oaked out dopple.
