| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Bottle... Clear, deep, dark copper lager with a small, fizzy, white head. Notes of burnt toffee, singed caramel and roasted nuts alongside hints of smoke and vanilla constitute the aroma. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Good balance. Sweet caramel, lightly smoky flavor with toffee and other roasted, boozy essences. Very decent bitterness. Lengthy, earthy, mildly sweet finish. JPDIPSO (4939), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Copper color with a diminished beige head. Strange aromas. I first thought it was iodine, but now I’m smelling boston peanuts, peat and orange peels. Sugary caramel and lightly toasted nuts in the flavor. Some floral hops in the background. dryish finish and some caramel and lemon peel in the linger. Some oak flavors come through here and there, but the beer seems to simple to support it, like some oak aged light lagers I have had. Not enough malt depth to support the process. Starts to feel boozy, like a shot of Jack in a can of lite. Tmoney99 (4797), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured a clear brown with a minimal light brown frothy head that mostly diminished with minimal lacing. Good toasted sweet nutty woody aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Good well balanced roasted malty woody flavor with a moderate smooth balanced bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable beer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Nose is caramel malt, oaky cherry, rauchy earthy, figgy. Tastes caramel malty, earthy, oaky, nutty, with red winey fruit, nuts, and a slight rauchy flavor that intensifies as it warms. This one is good.
