Commercial Description:
A classic English Pale Ale dominated by pleasant hop bitterness and aroma. Dry hops impart unique aromas and flavors that add to the complexity of this ale. Our Pick Axe uses a blend of hopping: British Columbia Bramling, Czech Saaz, and British East Kent Goldings which melds into an award winning flavor. 1997 & 2000 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Orange amber color with almost no head. Has a strong hop aroma. This honestly tastes like a watered down version of Dogfish heads 90 minute IPA, not bad.

copper with moderate white head. Nice sweet, citrus/orange, pine aroma. Flavor doesn’t hold up as strong as the aroma. Bitter and piny, but falls short of the exciting pale ale flavor you’re hoping for...

Pours copper with a small creamy white head. Some piney hops in the nose. Same for the taste but not to much going on here.

Nice brew that doesn’t assume to be more than it is; hoppy onset with a malt finish. Nice balance of flavors. A bit thin on the mouthfeel, but then again even Jennifer Love Hewitt has some cauliflower on her thighs...

I’m a sucker for a cute little guy wielding a pick-axe. (No, I DON’T play for the other team...not that there’s anything wrong with that.) I like this one. Crisp, and to the point.

Had this beer on 11/13/1998. Color is a good golden brown with good carbonation and head. Aroma is a fresh hop scent. Taste is full and hoppy. It starts with a medium body that goes down smooth. The finish is well rounded with a mild malt taste, accompanied by a nice hop bitterness and a fresh hop flavor. Its a very good Pale Ale.

Bottle Clear amber pour with a bit of sediment and great microbubble head. Hoppy aroma followed by hoppy flavor with a bit of malt, very well balanced. Smooth, great session brew.

Appearance: Pours a murky copper body with a tall, foamy off-white head. Smell: Very subtle pale maltiness set against a pungent hop aroma with notes of apricots and grapefruit rinds. Taste: Biscuit malt flavor with a slight, brief sweetness. Apricot and grapefruit with a moderate bitterness. A bit of sourness. Finishes dry with a lingering, persistent bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: A little more bitterness than I’m looking for in an English Pale Ale, but overall it’s okay.
