Commercial Description:
A classic English Pale Ale dominated by pleasant hop bitterness and aroma. Dry hops impart unique aromas and flavors that add to the complexity of this ale. Our Pick Axe uses a blend of hopping: British Columbia Bramling, Czech Saaz, and British East Kent Goldings which melds into an award winning flavor. 1997 & 2000 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Caramel, grass, pine & fruit notes in the aroma. Hazy amber colour, almost looks like a cloudy cider; quickly disappearing head. Nice balance between malt and hops. Caramel, citrus, pine, and some bread notes. Refreshing with a full body and a mild bitter finish.

On tap at the brewpub. pours light amber with a white head. Good hoppy aroma with a medium hop flavor. Medium body. Nice lacing. This seems to be a basic pale ale, but lacks the greeness of the hops.

Bottle. Fantastic (albeit misleading) piney, floral hop aroma. Pours golden with a little bit of head. Flavor is very mild hops, with a pretty thin palate.

6.2%? Hides the alkee really well. Amazing nose. Splendid hop boquet with sweet fruit vapors. A little thin, dry. Not much flavor presence. Grain, some hops. Nice session ale.

(12oz bottle, bottled July 06) Small beige head atop lightly hazed amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, orange/grapefruit, bread. Taste is medium sweet, pine/grapefruit, caramel/cookie. Medium body, some resin. More bitter than expected for an EPA, but no complaints.

Bottle: Pours a cloudy amber orange with a small soapy white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma has got a nice fruity hops scent to it which is actually quite enjoyable. bubble gum, light citrus fruit(grapefruit), and some gingerbread spice to it. Tastes pretty darn good with the bitter hops come off quite well, and the spiciness rounding out into a fruity beer. Overall, hey some pretty decent stuff from Tommyknocker. Who would of thunk it....

Bottle courtesy of Frankenkitty. Thanks, Joe. Hops in the nose but an undercurrent of cardboard. Slightly hazy dark amber with excellent lace! Tastes like many beers. Less hops than the aroma suggests. Somewhat creamy. Not too bad.

Pours a light hazy amber color with a small white head that diminishes but leaves a little lacing. Aroma is almost all citrus, with little pale malt coming through. Aroma is a surprising refreshing, crisp citrus hop flavor with some maltiness coming through. I like this much more than I expected. Good brew.
