Pours a cloudy orange. Nice head with good lacing. Vegetal aroma, can detect a nice hoppy profile. Unfortunately the taste does not match the aroma. This beer started out so promising. The feel on the palate is soapy, and the taste is watered down. Not one of my favorite pale ales. Very average.

The aroma has citrus hops, caramel malt, and some cheese from the yeast. The appearance is a fantastic cloudy amber with a small but persistent head. The flavor has caramel malt, citrus/pine hops, and a little chocolate. It is very well balanced. The palate is a little thin but ok for the style. Overall this is a real treat to drink.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Slightly hazy amber golden with a small, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Medium body, light accents of caramel and citrus. A vague grapefruitish bitterness in the finish. Quite nice and straightforward. 110606

More of an IPA than a pale ale, let alone an English Pale Ale. Aroma was hoppy, some citrus and even pine. The flavor was mostly of hops, citrus, pine, and floral hops, surprised to see that it was all Euro-hopped. Mouthfeel was moderate to slightly heavy for the style. I enjoyed this one. Re-rate, 9/06, no significant change, although flavor and mouthfeel lost a point, thinner / watery this time around.

Our Pick Axe uses a blend of hopping: British Columbia Bramling, Czech Saaz, and British East Kent Goldings which melds into an award winning flavor." Pour APA ice tea orange with a small, quickly faded head that remains only as tiny fungal-looking circles of white on the top of the beer. Mild, dry hop smell. Complex, but really it’s just a bunch of shades of gray--mild dryness of all stripes. It’s balanced very well with a mild, dry caramel malt. The hops taste slightly citrus, to begin, which give way to dryer hops and the disolve into sweet, dry caramel only to finish again with some tangy hops. There’s the complexity! A good drinking APA, not an undeserving medalist at the GABF.
