Commercial Description:
A classic English Pale Ale dominated by pleasant hop bitterness and aroma. Dry hops impart unique aromas and flavors that add to the complexity of this ale. Our Pick Axe uses a blend of hopping: British Columbia Bramling, Czech Saaz, and British East Kent Goldings which melds into an award winning flavor. 1997 & 2000 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Source:12 oz bottle from Archers in Norris.
Glass:Pint.
Appearance:Clear amber pour with a thin off white head.
Aroma:Caramel and citrus.
Flavor:Heavy caramel malt with a hint of citrus in the finish.
Palate:Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall:This was actually pretty good for an English Pale. Will go back for this when fresh.

Copper colour with thin head. Aroma is citrusy hop over caramel maltiness. Malty flavour is a bit flat. Caramel again with a light to medium citrusy hop.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy, darker orangish amber body with a thin, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is sweet caramels and even sweeter pines. Distinct dry hopped florals and sweet, candy-citrusy earthy hops. Flavor is exactly as the aroma led me to believe. Sweeter caramel cookie malts and juicy, sugary citruses. Good amount of floral, earthy bitterness that stays very sweet and blends well with the malty sweetness. Finishes slightly dry with a pretty long aftertaste of sweet, sugary caramels and citrus. Palate is medium to full bodied, smooth, and crisp. Overall, a straightforward, but tasty EPA. Reminds me of a decent homebrew. Not bad at all.

Pretty decent EPA overall. Always do love to try these when I get a chance. An American spin on an EPA. An AEPA more like it. Clear Bronze colour with a fluffhead. Dissapointed in the aroma. It wasn’t bad, just not what i thought it could have been. Slightly hopped, mildly refreshing and fun to sip on.

Nice fruity aroma, it seems like a mix of berries and citrus. Amber coppery orange in color. Great hoppy flavor that fades rather quickly leaving touch of pine and citrus on the palate. Overall, a damn good pale ale.

Good hoppy beer prolly my favorite of the tommyknockers line. Better ESB/ hop beers out there for sure but as far as this brewery is concernd this is a fair attempt.

Pours cloudy pale burnt orange with a 3 finger chunky off white head that has great retention. Aroma is citrus, planty and herbal hops, caramel, clover, biscuit, toasted bread and a little toffee. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, toasted grain, mild citrus, burnt toffee, biscuity malt, old straw, cereal grain and a little bitterness toward the end. Palate is light bodied, a little chalky and dry throughout. Not bad, but I really like a little more citrus in my APA, and the diacetyl notes were a little higher than I would like.

Bottle. Pours honey amber with a thin white head. Herbal hoppy aroma with some biscuity malt. Balanced flavor with herbal and floral hops, and bready malt. The bottle says it’s an American style Pale Ale, but I would have to agree with it’s style designation here, much more akin to an English Pale Ale.
