Commercial Description:
A classic English Pale Ale dominated by pleasant hop bitterness and aroma. Dry hops impart unique aromas and flavors that add to the complexity of this ale. Our Pick Axe uses a blend of hopping: British Columbia Bramling, Czech Saaz, and British East Kent Goldings which melds into an award winning flavor. 1997 & 2000 Great American Beer Festival Silver Medal Winner

Aroma of hops and jam. Tastes like hops and jam but better than just jam. Not as sweet as jam (which is good, especially for diabetics). Yummy and would probably go great with a PB & J sandwich. Not overly complex, and not pretentious. Delicious.

Caramelly and nutty. Palate was thin yet sticky. Not much for hops. Pretty boring, but not offensive.

Strong Hoppy smell and flavor. A light orange finish. Hoppy, but still very smooth. Small head, good bit of carbonation, no sediment.

Hazy orange with a small white head. Caramel malt and lightly soapy hops in the nose. Flavor is malty with a fairly nice hop presence. A bit thin. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Pours a cloudy orange color with a very thick fluffy head that produces good lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel malt with light spicy and grassy hops notes. Flavor is a light citrus, grassy and light spicy hops with a light caramel malt background. The body of the beer is just a bit light but the alcohol is a bit more prevalent than I would expect in this lighter beer. Overall a decent offering but a beer that I probably wouldn’t drink with any regularity.

Location: A friend gave me a 12 oz bottle, I believe it was purchased at a Total Wine in NoVA...it came out of a 6 beer 12 bottle Tommyknocker sampler.

Aroma: Hoppy, pine, some citrus fruits
Appearance: Clearish orange, amber color, some lacing
Flavor: Nice hoppy bitterness, nice citrus fruit malty undertone
Palate: Lingering aftertaste, nice mouthfeel, and a lightish-medium body
Overall Impression: A nice example of the style, mixes the hops and malts together nicely for a hoppy beer with a nice malt backing.

Cloudy copper color with a medium off white head. Aroma has a hint of pine and citrus. Flavor is dominated by hops with slightly harsh taste and a bitter finish.
