Fair aroma, nice dark color, flavors blended well, but it was rather too thin on my tongue.

Draught at brewery. Pours dark brown with a spare frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, nutty, roasted), light hops (grass), average yeast (sweat, leather) with notes of tar and roasted grain husks. Light bodied, oily texture, flat carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity and bitterness; roasted chocolate, leather flavor.

On draft at the brewery 3/17/07. Nearly opaque brown with a medium light brown head. Light roasty aroma with a bit of brown sugar. Smooth feel, but just a little thin. Mostly sweet roasted flavor is pleasing enough, and there is enough hop character to prevent an overly sweet flavor and finish. Not spectacular, but went nicley with the meal.
