Interesting roasty malt and chocolate aroma, different from stanard roasty porter aromas. More roasty and chocolate flavors, with some light fruitiness - raisins. Smooth and very easy to drink, but maybe a little thin. beerguy101 (3931), Newark, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2005 Dark brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, touch of sweetness. A medium to light bodied porter. Malts are slightly roasty, touch of chocolate and coffee. The rye adds some body and spiciness to the roasted malts. Nice balanced. Smooth taste. Clean, easy to drink porter. A little thin tasting, but acceptable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2005 Draught @ Tommy Knocker in Idaho Springs, CO. Deep burgundy color. Pleasing aroma showing an emphasis on the use of rye, along with hints of caramel and chocolate malts. Initially a pleasing flavor of cocoa, raisin and coffee beans is present, until it tames significantly into almost nothing on the finish. If they could have rounded out the flavor a bit more, this would have been great. KAggie97 (2459), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
