Cornfield (4262), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 6, 2006 This pours a deep chestnut body with a large tan head. Good lacing. The aroma is a lightly roasted malt with old caramel, powdered cocoa, dried fruit, and soapy yeast. Pretty light bodied. The malts are slightly burned in the flavor and an element of rust is added. The fruit in the nose becomes old grape and cherry skins. The caramel has aged and is a bit dusty. Surprizingly, a dry finish. Interesting.

Slightly darker than other dubbels. Had it a couple of times at de Boom in Alkmaar. It doesn’t have that special scent that other dubbels have. It’s hard to explain what’s exactly missing.
