Tap at the brewpub on 2/2/08: Transparent dark copper amber color with a thin-lacing ring of white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty pale malts with some earthy, bitter tart vegetal notes. Starts lightly malty with some earthy floral honey and nutty notes along with a touch of mint toward the thinner dry finish. Has some off-flavors.

Sampled at the brewpub. Light reddish amber with a thin white lace. Good malty nose with a bit of sweetness from the honey. Solid and refreshing with no off flavors. I was impressed with this one.

Pretty good brew here. Definitely some butteryness, a little bit sweet but not overly so. Drinkable and good. Yerm.

Appearance: Clear, light brown body with a full, foamy, white head. Smell: Aroma of brown malts, honey, and buttery diacetyl. Sometimes the diacetyl works for me, sometimes it doesn’t, this time I’m digging it. Taste: Butter-basted brown malts and honey with a slight sweetness. Mild spicy bitterness helps provide balance. Honey-butter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Good stuff! I regret not getting to spend more time at Chapel Hill’s Top of the Hill Brewery.
