Wow, this beer is straight up boring. I hate top of the hill and i am biased. But, the beer still sucks bigtime. this porter is no exception. Its really sad. This is supposed to be a restaurant and brewery, and instead of concentrating on brewing tasty, quality brews, these guys are more concerned with making lots of money off of unc’s fratastic elite. Fucking topo. Brown water is not a porter.

on nitro-pours a retaining creamy light tan head and black color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-coffee/faint chocolate-oatmeal, flat bitterness. Mild carbonation.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours mahogany with tight beige head. The aroma is roasty coffee with some caramel and wood notes, maybe distant smoke. The flavor is earthy hops, mild coffee, and some creamy bitter chocolate notes. Slightly sweet finish with nutty notes, not much aftertaste. Not special, but smooth drinking.

Tap. Who knew you could water-down a Guiness to make a porter? Looks strikingly Guiness-like with a thick, creamy head, cascading carbonation, and near black color. Beautiful looking. Very little smell, though, with just a hint of malty coffee. Flavor was very weak. Not bad tasting and goes down smooth, but there’s really almost nothing there. There are certainly better beers available at the bar.

Pours a bubbly cascade effect of froth. Deep chocolate brown with cocoa head. Adequate lacing. Looks pleasing enough. Aromas of subtley charred maltiness. Some cocoa. A hint of dark fruit. Flavors are weak and subpar. Watery. Take water, add brown crayon, melt. Spineless. Some smidges of maltiness, but not really. Thin mouthfeel. Mindless drinkability. Pass.

On tap. Pours black with foamy nitro head, a la Guinness. Nutty coffee aroma is pleasant, but taste is unbearably week, mouthfeel thin. Metallic aftertaste. Really a waste of time, even for a nitro beer.

had on tap at the brewery restaurant. Appears deep black, with thick creamy tan head. also was annoyed by the nitro. They want this beer to look like a guiness but at same time make it thinner so people can knock them back. what little aroma and flavor was of chocolate, and moreso of cofee. this was way too watery and thin. flavors not rich or complex. thin and limp mouthfeel. a real disappointment.

Pours burnt sienna, with tan head. Aroma and taste of chocoff, some dark malt. Tastes roasty malty with some finishing chocolate. Light palate for a porter.
