on nitro-pours a retaining creamy light tan head and black color with red tint. Aroma is dark malt-coffee/faint chocolate-oatmeal, flat bitterness. Mild carbonation.

Pours burnt sienna, with tan head. Aroma and taste of chocoff, some dark malt. Tastes roasty malty with some finishing chocolate. Light palate for a porter.

Had this on tap at the brew pub in Chapel Hill. Dark, dark brown when you hold it up to the light. Tenacious off-white head. Roasty nose and flavor. I would describe the aftertaste as metallic, unfortunately.

Dark Brown, thick creamy tan head. Faint coffee aroma, Very Creamy palate. Nice coffe flavor, but it fades as it finishes. Ends with a veggie flavor and kind of watery. Starts nice, finishes disappointing. 2004 Knoxville Brewer’s Jam.

Draft sample at the brewpub. Served on nitro... apparently... I couldn’t tell. Dark brown color with a large frothy head. Average head retention and lacing. Faint aroma of tobacco and roasted malts. Taste is bitter roasted malts, chocolate, tobacco and a bitter hoppy finish. Watery and thin.

An aroma of dried coco, a tad of molasses, and a hint of sour. Dark black with a brown head and lace. Semi sweet start with a dry finish. A light chocolate is the only flavor that I can put a finger on. A bit thin and watery. Not a very good porter, but a drinkable beer.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours mahogany with tight beige head. The aroma is roasty coffee with some caramel and wood notes, maybe distant smoke. The flavor is earthy hops, mild coffee, and some creamy bitter chocolate notes. Slightly sweet finish with nutty notes, not much aftertaste. Not special, but smooth drinking.
