The aroma is sweet and bready with some pineapple and brown sugar. The flavor is citrus and brown sugar, and rounds out well in the finish with some pineapple and saltwater taffy. Tasty. johnnydollar (35), greenville, South Carolina, USA

Golden amber color with a pretty citrus aroma. Good hoppy beer. Not overzealous on the head like some IPA’s, worth a try 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 16, 2006 "Ram’s Head IPA": in a can. Black can with plenty of stray paint spray Carolina Blue speckles on it, along with a Carolina Blue tab to open it. Pours a relatively clear dulled orangey amber color with an enormous light beige head that took some time to reduce. (You’ve got to be quick and have your glass ready, sometimes these are gushers.) Modest lacing inside the glass. Slow carbonation. Aromas offered by a fair amount of earthiness intermingled with juicy citrus. A blend of English and American character. Flavors were not enjoyed as much as the aroma was. Weak caramel maltiness. Some more of the same earthy plus citrusy flair, but was much too quiet for my liking. What was definitely not quiet however was the brash bitter quality this beer exhibited. Beyond snappy and whipcrack, this beer just gave you a roundhouse to the head. Ouch. Could use more than a smidge of balance. Medium mouthfeel. Chalky dry aftertaste. Drinkable, just so bitter!

The taste was full of hop, but felt very thin - there was virutally no malt there to provide any balance. I have to say I was disappointed with this one. Boutip (2400), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 5, 2006 Can collector edition (Ram Head) courtesy of Brentfeesh: Poured a medium orangey color ale with a medium head with average retention. Aroma is hoppy thought not as much expected with a nice malt base. Taste is a mix between some semi-sweet malt with some slightly bitter finish. Body is slightly above average. Nice average IPA but lacking a bit of bitterness to make this truly interesting. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Purchased in a collector’s series can (Ram’s Head) while in the outer banks. Pours a nice hazy dark orange with a medium lasting white head. Hoppy pine and soap is what you get for aroma. As for flavor, there is some OK malt in here but its as soapy tasting as it smells. There are some noticeable earthy-nutty hops but this fades to bitter soapiness in the finish. Medium round body. This might have been more enjoyable if not for the soap flavors. Cool looking can though. jrob21 (1278), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Ram’s head version. My wife was sweet to snag this for me on her recent trip to the thrill but unfortunately it is not a great IPA by any stretch. Closer to an over hopped pale lager. Bitter aftertaste leaves a bad impression. A bit thin, watery and not very exciting. Drinkable but not memorable.
