Pigfoot (2224), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 21, 2008 Belgian Raspberry Brown
Dark ruby tinted ale, full head, pinkish-brown.
aroma, all raspberry...bountiful berry...lovely stuff. Somewhat sweet, somewhat tart, very fruit, and very, very nice.
Big carbonation, then all is mellow after the first sip, but the fresh fruit flavor persists. Lean in body, there’s a brown ale beneath, with somehow discernible Belgian yeasty qualities.
In short: it’s berry-licious!
In long:...nah, I can’t...it’s still berry-licious!
a perfectly delightful ale. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Nov 7, 2007 Growler from Hellomynameis, shared wtih bikesandbeer. Pours copper with a big 3 finger tan head. Nose has some subtle raspberry in it. The taste is sweet, and light and has a decent albeit light bit of raspberry. Its a little thin but has some nice drinkability to it. Not great to terrible. Guerde (462), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Nov 4, 2007 (on tap at Town Hall) Pours red/brown with a white head. Somewhat weak raspberry on the nose with a faint hint of yeast too. Taste is quite similar to the nose with some faint raspberry and a yeasty finish, somewhat thin, expected something better. zeke626 (208), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Nov 2, 2007 Beer release as part of the 10th anniversary celebration. Brown body with reddish tones. Nice natural, vine raspberry aroma. Light to medium bodied with light raspberry flavors at the front of the palate turning to more malty and yeasty flavors near the back. The palate is a bit thin for my taste and the finish too weak, albeit clean. Flavors seem a bit more subtle than I would have liked. OSLO (606), Minnesota, USA Oct 28, 2007 [On tap at Town Hall] Pours a dark reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma is a little weak and of yeast and raspberry. The taste is also raspberry and yeast with some malt. A lot of yeast in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Ok, nothing too special.
