Commercial Description:
This is our strongest, darkest and most heavy regular offering. It is virtually black in color and features rich roasted malt flavor with a delicate caramel and vanilla finish. It is carbonated and served with the use of nitrogen gas, giving the Black Water a beautiful cascading pour and thick, creamy foam atop your glass. Made with only the freshest American malts and English hops.

On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a dark brown-black with long-lasting foamy tan head. Aroma is roasted grains, molasses, and a touch of toffee. Flavor is roasted grains/coffee, molasses, a hint of chocolate and a hint of raisin that works well. Searched in vein for the vanilla notes alluded to in the description and never found them. Palate is weirdly thin and tingly, not what I would have expected from this style, but that wasn’t enough to detract from the overall experience.

Pours thick black with deep tan head, smell is roasted malt with coffee and chocolate. Taste upfront is coffee and bitter chocolate, really creamy mouth feel from the oatmeal, and ends nicely with smooth roasted/smoky malts. Excellent beer!

On tap, at brewpub. Flat black pour with a creamy brown head that had decent retention. The nose is big coffee and oatmeal with dark chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is nicely bitter and roasty with the coffee coming out on the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. Dries out on the finish nicely. Smooth and creamy mouth feel with just a touch of fizziness. Very nice beer.

Beautiful, almost black color, but there is certainly a brown hue. Toasted oat aroma. Coffee flavored -- like a strong dark roast bean prepared in a French Press. I tasted some chocolate as well. Nice "warm" feeling on the palate.

On tap, poured into Pint Glass. Black and opaque. Virtually no head or lacing, even when I try to shake it up. Looks thin. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, licorice. Roasty sweetness, nutty flavor, slight bitterness at end. Slick feel, low carbonation. Medium bodied but a little thinner than hoped for. Decent stout overall, but there are many others I would rather choose.
