Commercial Description:
We have teamed up with the fine folks at Peace Coffee. This is a Minneapolis roaster that produces a full line of organic, fair trade coffee. Two seperate meetings with their roaster TJ created a special "Town Hall Blend" made up of a both Ethiopian and Columbian beans that created a perfect match for our porter. The result is "Black Snow," a 5% ABV coffee porter that is delicious.

Black Snow pours an inky black color with a good two inches of creamy deep brown foam. A little bit of auburn color shines through when held up to the light. Fantastic thick lacing. A nice smooth ’medium roast’ coffee aroma. Pleasant coffee flavor, not too strong, not too bitter, actually quite nice. I’d want an actual cup of coffee to be bolder, but not my coffee porter. A subtle sweetness is behind the coffee. At the risk of making the beer sound like a foo-foo coffee drink (which it definately is not), I will call the sweetness similar to hazelnut. A little bit of delicate floral hops rounds out the finish. Smooth on cask with a nice coffee aftertaste.

22oz bottle. Hand bottled courtesy of Footbalm. Jet black liquid oozes out. Smelled like coffee, coffee and more coffee. Taste of.....you guessed it....coffee, with some nice malty/chocolate flavors going on. Nice light body. Pretty good stuff.

22oz bottle courtesy of footbalm. This pours coffee black/brown with a serious coffee ground aroma. The body is light/medium, making this very quaffable

Draft... GABF ’06... Extremely black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, well tanned head. Terrific retention. Lots of coffee and chocolate along with mild diacetyl in the nose. The flavor mirrors the aroma. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, prickly, dry finish.

GABF 2006. The beer pours to a really dark brownish black body with a tan head. The aroma is really intense with concentrated espresso. Roasty as all get out. The flavor is an intensely roasty coffee and espresso. They could pass this one off as coffee. One dimensional, but delicous and very aromatic. Nice creamy mouthfeel. I love coffee.

black pour w/ a nice tan head and some good lacing. HUGE coffee aroma light chocolates but mostly just fresh brewed coffee. Palate is fairly light. Flavor is a nice bitter coffee hints of burnt malt and a touch o chocolate. A bit small and tilted to the coffee but pretty good.

Sampled multiple times at GABF. Rich aroma of fresh roasted coffee with milky cream and chocolate notes riding along. Flat black with a thick and lasting mocha head. Fore is slightly watery, but saved by a full flavored coffee blast followed by milk chocolate, roasted and burnt malts and a much creamier feeling finish.
