Commercial Description:
A traditional English special bitter, brewed with British yeast, barley, and hops. This smooth treat has a malt character that is rich in nutty caramel sweetness finished by the flavor and aroma of classic East Kent Golding hops. Made extra special smooth by nitrogen carbonation.

Clear apple juice body with white head. Aroma is medium sweet, lemongrass, light honey. Taste is medium sweet, honey, lemongrass, not much else. Light-medium body, some crispness. Perhaps this deserves a new entry, as the description (and earlier ratings) do not match my experience.

Sample at the brewpub. Bright medium copper, massive caramel nose; sweet, lightly oaky front, bit of vanilla in the middle, dryish finish, delicately soft body...some nice cherry-whiskey late. Rather impressive.

Dark amber color with a mild malt aroma. The taste is very well balanced with hops and malt. A strong wood note permeates the brew. Not a fall-to-your-knees bitter, but a fine one all the same.

This has the fruit aroma of an ipa. Light red color, small head. It was served too cold and had little flavor. As it warmed there was was bitter hops, and some taste of bread in the finish. A session beer. good.

Growler. Thanks Chuck. The beer pours to a ruddy copper body with a thin white head. The aroma is grassy silage. The flavor is sweet cookies, caramel, nice spicy/peppery hops. The palate is nicely textured, medium-bodied, smooth. A great ESB.

Brown Coloring. No Head. Bitter. Hops. Not A Huge Fan of ESB’s, but is Certainly a Decent Example.

Tap. Typical British bitter appearance and aroma. A bitter dry flavor with malt character. The cask version was better.

Bronze-hued, with an appealing cream-toned, fuzzy froth. Nose: fresh, clean, with soft fruitiness. Lively on the tongue, brisk and energetic. Much more active and hoppy than many bitters I've encountered. Bright, fruity, copper-toned flavor. Finsih is clean, crisp, long. Light in body, but generous with taste, this ESB leans back on the easy chair of your mouth and makes itself comfortable, leaving it's mark in every corner' and before long it's mail is coming to your address, and you're fetching it's slippers.
