Commercial Description:
One of our favorite styles is the German Hefeweizen (a wheat beer with yeast). We decided to add a bit of American extremity to this classic style to create our Double Hefeweizen, Brewed using over 50% malted wheat this light colored and light bodied beer has a tremendous banana / clove aroma and flavor. Despite it’s strong alcohol content you will find this beer remarkably refreshing.

Tap @ GTMW. Totally hazed and orange grapefruit in color with pines and ice lining the white head. Spicy phenol abound in the nose. Nearly souring banana bread muffins joins scents of vanilla, honey, almonds and saffron assaulting the nose with white pepper. Flavor move in dominantly as well. Spicy cloves and cackled white pepper phenols make formidable dents on the palate. Wildly effervescent meets quickly striking bitter edges. Sanded down buttery almonds get sealed with vanilla tootsie rolls. Fuller bodied and just dialed up a notch too much to nock it all out of balance. Finish is laced with lactic honey cream, grahams and beaucoup de clover.

On tap at the pub. Pours a hazy light orange with a small white head. Aroma of banana, spice, wheat, and some orange. Nice flavor, but seems a little heavier than most hefes. I guess that’s why it’s called a double. copyright grimreeser

Draft on 8/2/07. Cloudy amber color. Aroma of bananas, cloves, wheat and some spice. Taste some candy apple and surprisingly strong spice. Finishes with a bit of alcohol warmth. A nice summertime beer with some extra kick.

Completely opaque pour of an apricot shade. Ample foam on the somewhat placid body. Aroma of pineapple juice, bananas and cloves while cold. Likewise, cotton candy, bananas foster and orange crème are the notable flavor markers of the chilled body. Reasonably predictable. With warmth the nose turns pungent and funky. Notes of vegetable frying oil and steamed cabbage. Sweet potatoes too. On the tongue, alcohol begins to lend a slick honey sweetness and a bit of dry, foresty gin character. Fruit flavors start to ferment. The prickly sparkle of wheat on the palate is sufficiently dulled. Degenerate. Seven percent seems counterintuitive in this case.

Cloudy Hazed Orange/Honey Color with White Frothy Head. Thick Spice, Banana, Yeasty Aroma. Thick Bodied..Creamy Spiced Mouthfeel. Banana and Yeast Notes Most Notable..With a Doughy and Spiced Taste and Dry Malty Aftertaste. Flavors Are Really Solid and Balanced Well..The Added Alcohol Just Gives it a Bit More of a Kick... I Give it Extra Points for Up’ing the Octane Without Screwing Unbalancing the Basic Flavor and Taste of this Solid Summer Brew.

On tap at MN Town Hall. Cloudy almost opaque orange with fain head. I can smell the cloves from a foot and a half away. Upon closer inspection, the aroma of slightly over ripe banana joins the cloves (think about a banana right before tossing it into a bread mix). Ripe banana and cloves in a smooth body with yeast bite on the finish.
