BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 25, 2008 GTMW 2008: Not many notes as I was talking to the server... fruity for sure, tropical and sort of sweet, nice hop bitterness on finish. A good change of pace and strangely refreshing. (this is really a fruit beer and not an IPA) badgerben (3160), Blaine, Minnesota, USA May 9, 2008 Dark copper color with a medium head. Citrusy hop aroma and flavor. The mango is very light in the taste. Slightly caramelly malt finish. Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 26, 2008 On draught at the brewpub near downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pours a semi-hazed golden copper brew with an average off-white head that quickly dissipates to a white ring. Aroma of light caramel malt, mangos, papayas with a touch of citrus and grassy hop character. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of tropical fruits, some caramel malt, and maybe a touch of apricots. Finish is where some of the bitterness comes out but the fruit character hides a lot of the IPA hopiness and character. Still, quite refreshing and tasty. Pigfoot (2225), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Sep 25, 2007 Hazed, deep amber hue, good, lasting white head, if small.
Aroma is ripe and green, bristly, piney, and sweet. Grapefruit meets papaya bristly and burry, but smooth. Remarkably complex and delightful,,,hops aplenty meets juicy sweet fruity.
Taste: WOW! The mango has taken over and holds court in all areas of the palate, with that pleasing Mama hop profile lying just below. Bright, green, then slightly bitter...a bitter hop/sweet fruit tango.
Delicious stuff, this. Easy-drinking, and bursting with flavor. Medium bodied, lightly bitter finish. No wonder this blew out of the pub in a day or so (it was just one keg, I heard, though).
The fruit infusion madness at Town Hall continues apace, but this isn’t crazy, it’s all out genius. As if my favorite beer couldn’t get any better, here it is!
BDR (1903), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Nov 15, 2007 Red copper color with faint head. Citrus hops and faint mango on the nose. The body is a slightly stronger affair than the nose.
