Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber with an average size diminishing off-white head. Very nice aroma of fresh fruity hops, resiny hops, tea and fruit. Flavour is full of hops, resiny and citrus, along with some sweet malt, fruit and a very bitter finish -- so tasty and well balanced. Medium to full bodied. Fantastic, tastes practically like an IIPA, if it’s this good from a growler I can only imagine how great it must be fresh from the tap. I loved it! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Growler from Brewpub. Shared with blankboy, tupalev, rudolf and swoopjones - my growler via Oakbluff, an awesome trader and generous soul!!!. Growler poured Apr 19/07, consumed Apr 27/07 - traveled Minnesota - Winnipeg - Toronto - Buffalo - our stomachs. Looks like an IPA all right - slightly hazy orange, solid beige head. Smooth aroma - I mean it, smooth, blended balanced, f’ing great - leafy hops, tea, resin, mild citrus, assertive but not aggressive bitterness, backed with sweet fruit malt, I swear I got hints of pineapple. The taste was just as the aroma promised, leafy, tea-like, smooth, almost roasted malt framework, a VERY bitter finish, somewhat long, almost delayed-action. While the body was only average for an IPA, there was definitely complexity, interesting acidity to go with subtle astringency, and a finish and linger that left you really thinking about what you’d just sipped - Wow, really, really amazing IPA, held up well in the growler for a week, and lived up to the hype all right. Thanks for this, Scott - I’ll repay this kindness!! RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 10, 2007 Cask at the brewpub. Aroma: Big pine and resin up front with some citrus and floral notes whispering from behind. Some lightly sweet maltiness and caramel peek out as well. Appearance: Amber in color and hazy. Off-white head was full and creamy with great retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Hops jump out front with a bold flavor of pine and resin. The malt makes itself known next with a touch of breadiness and a nice caramel flavor. More hops, this time floral and citrus, right before the finish. A bit of grass into the finish, as well. Bitterness kicks in strong and sure, but doesn’t overstay its welcome. Clean, dry finish. Palate: Medium bodied and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Overall: Dynamite IPA! Wish I could buy this all the time. Everything an IPA should be. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA

UPDATE: after having many a growler of this, it further solidifies it as one of the top IPA"s on the planet. Its a toss up between this and Fury. Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA

Pours a beautiful, amber-orange color; fluffy, textured off-white head with great retention and lacing that coats the glass. Pleasant, grapefruit and citrus hop aroma. Full, chewy citrus mouthfeel: loads of grapefruit and citrus with a nice maple syrup balancing maltiness; hints of a creamy vanilla; lively carbonation; dense and resiny and dank. Lengthy, bitter citrus and creamy finish. Wonderful stuff. islay (478), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2007 16 oz. pour from the tap at Town Hall. Lemon/citrus, milky aroma of Pacific Northwest hops. Pours a largely clear (although there is a hint of haze), deep amber with a moderate amount of uneven beige head and extensive lacing. Malty sweet, floral, buttery, citrus-hoppy flavor. Barely any bitterness, except in the strong aftertaste. Good, but sweeter and less bitterly harsh than I desire from my IPAs. Full-bodied, fluffy, lively, and smooth in the palate. Fantastic texture. Easy to drink. Masala Mama is a very good beer, but I prefer more meanness from my pale ales. It did make a great match to my spicy hummus pizza (which was much better than it sounds).
