The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops, elderflowers, grass, and grapefruit, as well a lighter notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, spicy hops, and elderflowers, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. sleestak (186), Williamston, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 16, 2009 Growler. Pour was honey gold with a good amount of carbonation. Unbelievable aroma of pine and citrus that filled the air before lifting the pint glass. Flavor is well-balanced between the hops and the sturdy malt backbone. Piney, but not resinous. Juicy citrus. Just a great IPA. ksurkin (388), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2009 sample from a fresh growler courtesy of BRDC at DLD ’09. pours a bright, golden orange with a solid, white head and great lacing. aroma was amazing with big, citrusy hops dominated by grapefruit and orange, fresh flowers, big pine notes, and a touch of sweetbread malt. flavor was excellent as well with big, citrusy hop bitterness up front, slight tropical fruit notes, spruce, and a great balance of sweet, biscuity, caramel malts. palate was bright, crisp, and medium bodied with a long, bitter finish. overall, a great IPA that i certainly want to try again. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2009 Growler thanks to tytoanderso. Pours a copper orange with medium white head, which laces heavily. Aroma of citrus hops (mostly grapefruit), malt, and pine. Flavor...wow...for an IPA, this is extremely flavorful. I detect hops and hops, grapefruit, caramel, grass, a malt backbone, and a pleasant bitterness that sticks around. So many of these highly rated IPAs and IIPAs have been disappointing, not this one! Man I wish I could get this more often. WeeHeavySD (2980), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2009 Seems insane, that it took me so long to have this, growler shared by smokepot23, thanks Joe! Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is sweet with citrus and quite nice. Taste is Sweet citrus, rich and all in all a superb IPA. Lothore (276), California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 2, 2009 A- Pours a deep transparent orange color with a nice, thick, chewy, off white head.
S- Smell is dominated by citrus and grapefruity hops with some sweet caramel malt in the background.
T- Nice and bready, substantive with citrus notes all the way through. A very bitter grapefruit finish stays on the tongue long after the brew is gone.
M- Medium bodied with ample carbonation.
D- This was an excellent IPA. I went in this expecting to be disappointed because of it’s high rating (which I thought it couldn’t live up to) but I was certainly wrong. If this was available around here it would be my go to.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 30, 2009 Thanks to thickfreakness for this beer several months ago. Cloudy yellow pour with big white head. Great nose of citrus peels, pine needles, grass and malts. Flavor is similar with the malt really balancing out the great bitter hops flavors. Very nice beer. Thanks Charles. BgThang (118), Texas, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 26, 2009 Thanks to tyroanderso for these growler. I am reviewing from notes as this was sent to me and consumed 4 months ago.
The appearance is yellow slightly hazed with a good head that lingered around the entire time.
The nose is that of slight pine, citrus, lemongrass. alot of the things you expect in a solid IPA.
This beer has a lot of hype behind it and is rated on BA as the top IPA. It is well deserving of this. Although not as balanced as the alesmith IPA it is certainly damn good.
The mouth feel. this hit with a tingle that starts out slow then emerges on the back end. Its almost like a light pale ale then when you finish the bite comes in so slightly.
This is a beer that even the hop haters would love.
