Pours a golden amber, a little bit hazy, with a lot of head initially, but it settles down to a quarter inch or more. Good head retention, good lacing. Caramel and vanilla wafer cookies in the aroma. Moderate caramel malt, with a touch of cereal grain. Good balance with a floral hop bitterness. Almost medium bodied, very smooth, great carbonation.

Maybe California Common just isn’t a good style. This beer is very thin. It did have a long lasting head on top of the light gold beer. Aroma is hops and grass, and the flavor is unpleasantly bitter hops. It isn’t that it is too bitter, just that it doesn’t taste good. Very thin and light body.

Gold/Graham Coloring with White Ring. Crisp Malty Aroma. Tastes of Grains and Wheat with a Dry Crisp Finish. Nice, Solid Steam Brew.

On-tap at the brewpub: Dark to medium gold color with a cold, dark, firm, whitish head of small heft. Light lacing qualities. Aroma is of sweet smokey malts. Not as in smokey, the actual smoke, but more alluring and wavering like. Tender malts lend a sweet touch of toasted breads and lightly earthy yeastiness adding some musty grainyness. Flavors are quite the effect of long standing standard pale malt sweetness of breads and grain with a light smear of earthy smoke. Tenter crisp toastyness wrapped within. Partial honey candy mixed with toffee/caramel dart an underplay inbetween the toasty bready factions. Crisp and buttered corn sweetness comes in as a mixture once its warmed up some. Flavorful yet simple and dignified without much complexity but lasts with an intreguing balance. Feel is about right for the style, medium heft with a malt sided lean in the sweets and breads with just the tinyest hop spice of grasses. Crisp, clean, sweet, and simple. And drinkable; nothing out of the norm for a Town Hall brew. Always drinkable.

Dark amber color with a medium head. Citrus and pine laden nose with some spice. Interesting taste for a Cali Common... Dusty malts and grains with a little spice (black pepper?). Dry and bitter finish. Didn’t taste like Anchor Steam to me, but not too shabby.
