ElGaucho (1719), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 11, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Somewhat subtle aroma with some roasted malt and a hint of hops. Dark, hazy red with creamy, good sized off-white head, with a hint of yellow. Excellent lace. Requires a palate adjustment if you’ve had other beers prior. Very unique. I love the description of this brew: color lightening to greet the warmer temps of Spring. I am having this brew on the warmest day so far of 2008 in Minneapolis, with a high of 50 degrees. Style is still a bit of an enigma. I don’t agree with the "Amber Ale" designation. Mike Hoops indicated that this would be an IPA if it weren’t for the more substantial malt bill. I think it’s definitely more of an IPA than an Amber Ale. There’s a little something in the finish I’m not 100% enamored with, the malt? A very nice beer and the best one of four I had at Town Hall this evening.
Mrthirstyneck (338), Minnesota, USA May 13, 2008 nice easy drinkin beer here. solid malt body with enough hops for a nice crisp bite, i enjoyed this one alot. nice work T hall! tytoanderso (1148), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Apr 1, 2008 Growler. Striking in the glass. A rich, brown pour with deep amber highlights. Very creamy and frothy off white head that leaves the stereotypical Town Hall sticky lacing. Toasted bready malt and some bright citrus hops on the nose. Balanced flavor profile for sure. Plenty of doughy malt but also a lot of resiny and citrusy hops. Lush and creamy texture with a lasting bitter finish. Very well done amber. islay (364), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 28, 2008 16 oz. pour, on tap at the brewpub. Malty, meaty, floral aroma. Pleasant but simple smell. Pours a clear, brown / maroon / dark amber with a red glow and a small to moderate amount of beige head. Produces extensive lacing. Very cool appearance. Sweet, malty, buttery taste features red grape and candy sugar flavors. Medium body. Creamy and soft in the palate. The texture works well with the floral-sweet taste. IlanMan (454), Winona, Minnesota, USA Mar 21, 2008 On tap at Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery. Golden amber pour with strong aroma of fresh hops. Taste is same but real smooth and not much of a real harsh bitterness to it. Light malt bill as well. Real smooth and good. Would buy again. amish_caravan (163), Winona, Minnesota, USA Mar 21, 2008 nose is hoppy. taste is of carmel and hops. very smooth hops taste. finish is a little sweet with lasting hops flavor.
