abcfan (156), USA Jun 10, 2008 Another tasty brew from troeg’s. This one was a bit hoppier than I would like in a porter, but pretty easy drinking overall. Pours a muddy brown with thin off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops, chocolate and roasted nuts. Chocolate and nut taste up front, with a surprisingly bitter metallic finish. It was really good up until the end, but decent overall.
lightning9191 (59), Christiansburg, Virginia, USA Sep 7, 2008 This beer pours black with a tan head. There is noticeable hps in the aroma with some background maltiness. The flavor is coffee-like, malty, well balanced with hops. This is the hoppiest porter I’ve ever had and I like it! The body is medium-heavy with a medium carbonation. AllAboutStout (479), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 7, 2008 Pours a very dark brown in color, very near black. Frothy mocha head forms and stays around for the duration. Smell is very hoppy with some chocolate underneath. Taste is hop dominated, but the chocolate compliments the flavor well. Full and very creamy on the mouthfeel. An easy drinker and a good beer. Happy to have Troegs available in the area now. NomDeBeer (150), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 30, 2008 Surprisingly hoppy for a porter, but also unexpectedly thin. As such, I think this misses the stylistic mark, and people looking for a traditional porter will be disapointed. But I enjoyed it, chocolate and ash flavors plus a nice hop bitterness. afireinside96 (428), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 12oz bottle served in an English pint glass. Dark brown pour with a big creamy tan head. Smells of cocoa powder, fig, and earthy hops. Tastes of chocolate and earthiness. More bitter than most porters. Nice smooth body, everlasting head. Very nice. GMCC2181 (367), Bear, Delaware, USA Aug 25, 2008 Bottled shared by robert at Stateline. Dark in color. Taste was roasted malt, hops and small amount of chocolate. The hops stand out up front but then take way to the nice smoothness of the roasted malts and chocolate. Overall a good beer that I enjoyed! Thanks again robert for sharing the beers tonight!
