dkachur (781), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop, downtown location, Charlottesville. Pours a light copper color with a medium sized head. Understated but well balanced aroma. Taste is a nice hop profile with a sweetness balancing it at the front of the tongue. A little chewy. Nice.

Aroma - Fresh aromas of Northwest hops are all over this, citrus, pine, spice, etc. There is an initial blast of caramel, but it steps aside quickly to allow the hops front stage.
Appearance - Clear, deep amber pour with a with a creamy, off white head that settles quickly, leaving a nicely patterned lace in it’s wake.
Flavor - The citrus rind hoppiness is well balanced by a healthy dose of caramel malt. Bitterness builds into the lengthy finish, but isn’t harsh.
Palate - Medium body and carbonation, somewhat resinous, sweet malts coat the palate initially, but the bitterness leaves a dry, pleasing finish and clean mouthfeel.
Overall - This is a well crafted, balanced, and very enjoyable beer. Mr_Stitch (138), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a tight off white head that leave thick lacing rings down the glass. Aroma is piney, citrusy hops, mixed with the faintest hints of caramel malts. Taste is very much the same as the smell tons of hops, but the malt comes much more into play here giving the beer a nice even taste that works well. Mouthfeel is sticky and thick. A very enjoyable beer to drink. NomDeBeer (150), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 31, 2008 Clear light amber color, small white head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is floral hops and pine needles. Flavor has a sticky caramel and sap-like sweetness, plus citrus hops. Great body and palate. Not as bitter as I expected, very smooth finish. AmEricanbrew (924), Swamp Shreveport, Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 28, 2008 Clear amber with a viscous tan head, nice lacing. Great aroma is spruce sap, wet kona bud sweet leaf. Medium body with a creamy soft mouthfeel. Big bittersweet hop oil, sappy, sticky sweet spruce, with citrusy orange riding an awesome, sweet caramel amber ale base. Imperial Amber Ale indeed, and a regular in my fridg. Zinister (877), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 27, 2008 Updated: Aug 29, 2008Much thanks to MaltOMeal for this beer!
Pours a rich orange amber color with a small white head. Awesome pine and floral hop nose. Flavor is very hoppy with some tropical flavors (mango, pineapple) as well as floral, peach and ending with a bit of pine. Malts are there enough to give this beer some weight....and a great mouthfeel. I love this beer and would drink it daily if I could get it.
