Kathy (241), Washington DC, USA Apr 7, 2002 Sweet, hoppy aroma with a flavor that lives up to it. A biting, but not too bitter, hop start (which I thoroughly enjoy) and a sweet, mildly grapefruity finish. Rivals Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as the beer that I would want to always have on hand. Amber1 (32), USA May 2, 2002 Big head, amber hued, huge nose. My favorite from Troegs! I’ll have another. Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Aug 31, 2002 Updated: Jul 18, 2007Beautiful red color that invited me in. Superb flowery hop. Rolls into the tongue. Smooth finish. Dickinsonbeer (2513), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Mar 10, 2002 In my oppinion, this is the best beer from Troegs. Better than their pale ale. Great taste and aroma. A good balance between hops and malts. From the ratings I’ve seen, it seems like this is one of the most underrated breweries around. This one is right up there with some of the best english ESB’s. ravidesai (915), Bombay, India Aug 21, 2001 A great find. the best American ESB i’ve come accross.
A nice dark color with a soft head.
perfect balance between pugent hop flavors and slighly sweet malts.(caramel)
