zathrus13 (1091), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2008 Pours copper, with a white head. Aroma is hops, malt, and some fruit...maybe peaches. Flavor is hops, malt, caramel, and fruit. A nice one, and fairly sedate, for the scratch series.
checkmatei1 (275), Willow Grove, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle: Poured an orange amber color with a nice amount of head. The aroma was hops and spice. The flavor was smooth, hoppy and a nice spicy/bitter finish. Overall, an easy drinker. One that would be nice to have as a regular from Troegs. Ughsmash (3077), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottled. Poured rich coppery amber with a majestic cap of beige head.. some rolling carbonation up the sides of the glass.. beautiful! The aroma picked up toasted toffee and caramel upfront surrounded by juicy medium-dark fruit and grassy hoppage.. almost a hint of coffee way deep down.. nice! The flavor opened with juicy medium-skinned fruit and grass hoppage with higher medicinal tones.. toffee supported the middle with a dry, scratchy impression.. picked up some caramel sweetness toward the back.. quite bitter overall, leaving a bring feel at the end. Medium-bodied and a bit sharper than it should’ve been at times on the palate.. I really dug the spicy, bitter finish. Solid brew. kkearn (689), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2008 12oz bottle, from Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Pours orange amber, capped with a substantial off-white head. Restrained earthy hop aroma, with some grain and caramel malt. Piney and earthy hops hit the palate first and are soon joined by citrus, malt, and just a hint of chocolate in the finish. Grapefruity hops linger on the palate. Above average ESB. tomthompson89 (1148), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 22, 2008 Bottle at Cameron’s cask night. amber color, good sized frothy white foam. nose is hoppy but doesn’t take over, kinda sweet too. flavor is well balanced between hops and malt almost more of an ipa then bitter but very nice. nimbleprop (593), Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 7, 2008 12oz bottle via trade with Ogglethorp. Thanks Brian! Pours a translucent dark orangey brown with a foamy, lacing slightly off white head. Very pleasant aroma with floral hop buds, crackers, spice, grass and a little bit of barley. Flavor is just as good with plenty of orange, biscuits, crackers, flowers and a touch of pine. Finish is sweet and clean. This would be a great session beer as it’s really well balanced. I enjoyed this a lot, they could make this a year round beer and I bet it would sell.
