Commercial Description:
Revisiting Scratch #3, we take the same Tripel recipe, add beet and cane sugars to the kettle, and run the wort through our hopback brimming with juniper berries, coriander and yarrow flowers.

Inspired by the herbaceous nose of gin, the berries and flowers give a slight pine/citrus aroma with floral undertones. Scratch #8 has a dry, yeasty finish and noticeable alcohol warming when consumed.

From 2008, thanks for sharing, iowaherkeye. The body was hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma was strongly herbal with some medicinal qualities. There were also some cake donuts. The taste was bread crust with some oregano. There was also some sweet pear, like a saison to me. Low carbonation.

Seems like a classic witbier aroma of coriander with a little flowery/herbal kick to it. Fairly tart, and a little heavy on the spice flavor with a rather sweet/tart finish. Quite think on the palate. Reminds me of a good witbier that needs to go to fat camp and lose about 50 lbs.

This poured golden in color with a thin head. Aromas were of banana, rock candy and spice which continued into a medium-bodied beer that was concentrated but also rather simple.

8-2-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to DIM, we believe
Clear light watery yellow in color with no lasting head. Smell is spiced and doughy. More spice than I really like - but isn’t awful I suppose. It coats the tongue with a thick chalky medicinal flavored sweet funk. Not good. Really not something I enjoy at all. Hard for me to swallow.

I believe this bottle is from DIM. Thank you.
Pours a mostly clear golden color with an extremely short lived head. Smell is bright and herbal and lightly malty. I can definitely get the juniper berries from this. Taste is sweet and herbal again. A bit cloying, actually, and has kind of a spruce and mint like finish along with some yeastiness. A touch of alcohol shows, but couldn’t tell it was over 10%. Gets harder and harder to drink still, despite the ABV being hidden well. Novelty beer...

Bottle from axilla. Thanks Jon! Pours cloudy orange with no head. Nose is slightly vegetal and salty, with a bit of citrus, spices, and pepper. Flavor is spicey with some hints of clove and citrus. Didn’t care for this too much.
