Commercial Description:
Pandan Ale represents a major advancement in Asian style beers. It is a complex brown ale brewed with crystal, chocolate, and honey malts. We have also given it a Southeast Asian flair by adding palm sugar and pandan , a nutty and fragrant leaf. Pandan, also known as bai toey (Thai) and lá dua (Vietnamese), is considered an essential ingredient to Southeast Asian rice dishes and cakes. This is a truly unique and flavorful beer that you will enjoy. Pandan Ale is a dark, full-bodied beer that will complement spicy Thai and Indian curries, as well as savory Filipino and Indonesian stews.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazed brown body and an off-white head. Aroma is oddly floral with chocolate, rummy notes and light banana esters. Taste is slightly spiced, floral and rich in chocolate. Light carbonation, a bit thin though.

Bomber thanks to BrewDad. Pours a deep purple color with a nice medium beige head. The aroma is malty and sweet. Some fruitiness also. The flavor is very smooth, toasted malts, light fruit, something sweet like hazelnut perhaps the Pandan. A light mouthfeel, but lots of flavor. Easygoing and nice. A nice brew.

Bottle brought back from WA. A vast improvement over the last Laughing Buddha beer I tasted. Pours dark brown with a trim oatmeal colored head. Brimming with the aroma of molasses and borwn sugar. Has a nice robust flavor profile that features caramel, toasted malts, barley, and hazelnut. Well balanced with a viscous Scotch Ale sort of mouthfeel. Solid.

Darker brown pour, deep amber at the edges with a fizzy light beige head. Sweet nose of plum and chocolate. Sweet the whole way through, very fruity, almost like prune or raisin sweetness and soft caramel.

On tap at 2008 Hop Scotch Festival in Seattle. My review simply reads, "Roasted nuts!"

Pours dark reddish brown with a very short lived beige head in a snifter. Smell is rich, creamy nutty malt and lightly coffee like. Very nice nose for a brown ale and very inviting. Taste is nutty, malty and not too sweet, but the sweetness is there at first and finishes dryer, and crisply with lightly prickly carbonation. Medium bodied. Lightly hazlenut like flavor and some light coffee. Fantastic brown ale and one of the better ones I’ve had for sure!

bottle from kegbear, pours a deep, dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is definite brown sugar with a hint of caramel. The taste is very unique, it’s very dark tasting with a very different sugary taste. It’s interesting but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to buy again
