Commercial Description:
Pandan Ale represents a major advancement in Asian style beers. It is a complex brown ale brewed with crystal, chocolate, and honey malts. We have also given it a Southeast Asian flair by adding palm sugar and pandan , a nutty and fragrant leaf. Pandan, also known as bai toey (Thai) and lá dua (Vietnamese), is considered an essential ingredient to Southeast Asian rice dishes and cakes. This is a truly unique and flavorful beer that you will enjoy. Pandan Ale is a dark, full-bodied beer that will complement spicy Thai and Indian curries, as well as savory Filipino and Indonesian stews.

22oz bottle thanks to old_man_crow i believe....pretty dark brown pour with a thin light cocoa soapy head that is quick to diminish..... the aroma reminded me of a thai dessert that my mom used to make when i was younger and i didn’t even realize the connection until i read the description. it’s nutty but very unique. points for offering that nostalgic feeling for me.....flavors are on the sweeter end. nutty and malty with medium carbonation and a decent mouthfeel.

This brown felt fairly basic. Bit malty and sweet. Poured flatish, though on tap at the restaurant. Nothing amazing but paired fine with sushi in the heart of Seattle.

5/10 On draught at the brewery. Aroma is semi-sweet with a faint roast malt character and no hop floa. Appearance is medium brown with a good tan head. Flavor is sweet, with malty caramel and low bittering. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a low carb texture. Overall, quite good, and not a huge departure from a standard brown.

Bottle thanks to 5000: Pours a transparent dark copper brown with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of semi-sweet toasty caramel malts with some mild leafy notes. Starts lightly sweet and sugary with some fresh nutty notes and a touch of bitterness before a sweet finish. An interesting and well-balanced brown ale.

Bomber shared by theisti. Pours a reddish Dr. Pepper brown with a thin ring of beige bubbles clinging to the edge of the glass. The nose is an interesting yet not altogether pleasant aroma of burnt hazelnuts and dark nut bread or cake. Light to medium-bodied and slick with a lightly dry but fairly clean finish. Nutty and lightly vegetal with an ashy finish. Unique but not great. Thanks for sharing this interesting brew with us, Tim!

22 oz bottle purchased at 99 Bottle in Federal Way, WA. Pour is cola brown, some ruby, with not much tan head. Aroma of hazelnut and something vegetable - pandan perhaps? Also some spice and some leafy grassiness. The spice and nuttiness is really overwhelming. Taste has nuttiness, some slight fruitiness, dried fruit. The taste is more muted then the nose, fortunately. Palate is medium, but is long, coating and lasting. Very original, totally unique, but not all that tasty.
