Bottle. 12 oz. Pours clear orange with a thin white head. Aroma of stale yeast, wheat, and hops. Thin body with a shit finish. Poor lager.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joes (Tucson) - Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a one finger thick white head. Light lacing. Aroma is herbal hops and light grain. Flavor is much of the same. Medium body. A decent middle of the road Pils.

BOTTLE: clear yellow-gold apple-juice like pour. Mild malt and honey on the nose, mild pilsner taste. For a boring lager, its not terrible.

Given what this is, the beer is definitely solid. I’m not exactly sure who brews it, but it is light, golden with some malts and hops. Really basic: a bit sweet, honey flavor with some grain and oats. Really mild, subtle hops. Super easy to drink. If I was at TJ’s again, I’d probably get it, especially just to drink and watch bad movies.

Looks like apple juice. Smells of honey and malt. Flavor us sweet with honey and caramel notes and s touch of apple.

Trader Joe’s has been relegated to the role of provider and purveyor of fine exotics and delicious, bottled things. Salsa, chocolate covered pretzels, gyoza - never produce or anything standard like that. And what’s more, beer fits into this niche quite nicely. On my last few trips I’ve picked up a six-pack of Trader Joe’s branded beers. I’m not sure who brews these beers (one time, for a larger bottle, it was Unibroue) but by and large they’ve been simply, and delightfully tasty. And nothing more. The Bohemian lager stands out as the pinnacle of this approach (whatever TJ’s taste testers decide that to be), with a crisp, clean pilsener smell, slightly nutty, but also surprisingly sweet. Each sip brings a light but assertive pilsener flavor without even a hint of skunk. The palate is a little too busy, especially considering the softness of the flavor, but this is partially recovered by a parting shot of flavor in the aftertaste. I would not hesitate to drink this before a meal, probably something frozen from Trader Joe’s.
