CapFlu (3340), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Nov 11, 2007 (750ml bottle) Purchased at Trader Joes in Seattle on October 20, 2007. Pours a large frothy off-white head atop a deep near opaque body. Nose is totally dissimilar to that of Vintage Ale 2005 - this is more like Edition 2005: very minty, overwhelming spices like caraway seed and spearmint. Tasting very similar to Unibroue’s annual servings.
AndrewKScott (409), Lemont, Illinois, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle from Jimbowood. Thanks Jimbo! Pours nearly black, though some light seeps through towards the edge of the glass. Head is off white with some lacing. Aroma is very spicy with nutmeg and rosemary, dried fruit and sweet malt. Flavor is raisins, dried fruit, and figs, along with the spice. I am very impressed by this. Mette (149), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 2, 2008 Tak til Sune for denne øl til klubben. Næsten sort med hvidt skum. Søde frugter, maltbolcher, let gær, kirsebær, rosmarin, nåletræ, lakrids, anis(eller anus, som vi fik det døbt) sunevdj (1482), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Oct 1, 2008 Bottle recieved in a trave with drewbeerme THX! Enjoyed at the Shorts tasting with The Club and then some. Pours a clear dark brown with a diminishing white head. Sweet with some dryness. Belgian yeast. Hints of spruce and spice. Also some cherry aromas. Medium body. High carbonation. A good example of a Belgian double. Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 30, 2008 Bottle at home - thanks to Sune. Almost black - white head. Cherry, berries, fruity, rosemary, pine needles, spicy, sweetness, licorice, anis. Clearly belgian style - very nice !!! kyzr (962), Belgrade, Montana, USA Sep 6, 2008 Dark pour with nice sized brown head. A lot of dried fruit on the nose. Flavor has raisins, a little fig and rather sweet. Good body with a ton of carbination, yet nice texture. Just a little too sweet for me.
