Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing frothy off-white head. Aroma of semi-sweet toasted dark caramel malt and the signature Unibroue bready Belgian yeast with a touch of fruity esters. Body starts drier and thinner than expected with a hint of tartness and earthy bitterness. Finishes dry and lightly toasted. Needs more sweetness.

Sep 1, 2008 Bottle from Trader Joe’s in St. Louis Park, MN. Pours a clear, amber brown body with generous, off white foam head. Aroma of belgian malts, dark fruit, and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is mainly sweet and belgian malts with some banana, clove, and dark fruit notes. Smooth mouthfeel. A great value for the price.

Aug 27, 2008 Bottle from Trader Joes Indianapolis. Brown pour Thick beige head. Rich chocolate and fruit on the nose. Creamy mouth-feel with notable hints of chocolate, fruits, yeast. Overall a decent beer especially for the price!

Aug 11, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby-brown color with a moderate foamy white head. Aroma is dark fruits. The flavor is like a good Abbey Dubbel. Figs, chocolate, eyast, toffee, spice. A solid beverage.

Aug 7, 2008 Pours a very dark ruby brown in color with a nice head formed. Smell is dark fruits, and that significant Unibroue yeast. I’m not a big fan of Dubbel’s but this is bigger, darker and has more dark fruit than your typical Dubbel. This is actually drinking quite nice. Good mouthfeel. These are a great deal at Trader Joe’s when they come out. Will have to pick up a bunch of the new release this winter.
