Aroma is lightly nutty with a touch of sweet caramel. There is a bit of toasted malt as well. Aroma is actually pretty solid. Soft sweetness and a clean nutty flavour as well. Sweet toasted malts and a kiss of herbal hops. I’m trying to figure out why this isn’t listed as a dunkel, which is what it is and it’s not a bad one at that. Nicde pour, a clear amber body with lazy bubbling and a creamy, sustained off-white head. It had a sweet, worty nose and delivered a caramel flavor with a touch of mineral water. This is in desperate need of some hops, but oddly doesn’t get too cloyingly sweet. JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

Heavy caramel, light sorghum, and touch of brazil nuts. Flavors of light molasses and dark chocolate. HInts of iron and peat. Very simple. Tmoney99 (4802), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured clear brown color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet malty aroma. Medium body with a thin texture and soft carbonation. Light sweet flavor with soft sweet finish of short to medium duration. Worth trying agian. bhensonb (4392), Woodland, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Brown bottle from Trader Joes. Strong aroma of somewhat roasted caramel malt. Mahogany color with a beige/tan head that quickly ringed. Thin to medium body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is roasted malt, so a bit sweet, seems to have some nut. Not getting much hop except perhaps a bit of grassiness. The finish is mildly sweet with some veg/hop to sort of balance. It’s not a bad dark lager, especially considering the price. Cream head. Aroma is of lemons and caramel malt. Tastes more roasted than expected with molasses sweetness. Much more flavor than appearance would indicate.
