| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 24, 2009 Pathetically over-priced 650mL bomber brought by me to our 4th KW group tasting. Seriously, 12.95 isn’t even a joke, it’s just sad that they actually think it’s worth that much. Anwyways, maybe the extra $12 in the price goes to the gun powder they must use instead of priming sugar, because when I popped the cap it nearly exploded, and the sound was louder than when a cork gets popped. Insane. Pours a very fizzy purple with black floaties (?). Actually looks like a purple Gueze. Too bad it doesn’t taste as good. Smells awful, not infected, just awful. Booze and raspberrys gone bad, as well as some black currant. Flavour is insanely tart, with a dull aftertaste that’s mildly unpleasant. For what it is this actually isn’t awful, though I’m over-joyed I didn’t have to drink the whole thing myself as I would not have got through it. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Mouldy yeast and black currant fruit and medium alcohol aroma. Clear, dark bright red with a quick light red head. Mouldy fruit yeast continues in flavour with alcoholic black currant seeds. Medium body has a long aftertaste and is a little bitter. Not as shocking as the raspberry (perhaps since it was just sampled) but still made with the same unpleasant yeast. robinvboyer (1442), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 2, 2007 sickly sweet, and artificial. served ice cold, was too sweet to drijnk, and had an odd plastic aftertaste, tried it when it warmed up a bit, even worse. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 30, 2006 Tasted in Toronto. Obtained from the Beer Store after reading a bartowel posting on the Trafalgar Mead lineup., Haven’t really gotten into Meads, but due to their heritage and age they intrigue me. I am surprised there is not a larger Mead following / industry. A recent article in All About Beer stated in the US there were approx. 100 meaderies. Back to the review...Tasted in a half pint glass. Bottle 650ml. According to label recommends to shake gently prior to opening and serving cold, preferably over ice. Opens with a slight hiss. No carbonation. Pours with a grape juice purple colour. Slight reddish hue when held up to the light. Slightly sweet aroma. Has a grape like scent. As it warms slightly, the black current aroma becomes dominant. Flavour is not at all sweet. Slightly tart, deep currant taste, hints of grape and raisin. Although pleasant, it seems that this (and by the description of the other Trafalgar meads in this ’series’) is by definition a mead, but not aligned well with the classical interpretation of a honey mead. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada

It almost seems like they put more money on making a cute label than actually in making the "beer". WOW... markas101 (580), Fargo, North Dakota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2006 6cl bottle, Shelburne. Sweet juice aroma, very smooth, interesting flavour. Suggested on bottle to sever on ice but would definitley ruin the experience. An interesting attempt, would like to see a more ’pure’ mead released to judge these against. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 19, 2006 650ml bomber freshly filled. Gives a lovely clear ruby-orange color in the glass. No cap and mild carbonation
Aromas of musty honey and fresh berry fruit.
Not sweet as you may expect..has some beer-like graininess to it and the fresh berry juice tastes are tart filling in for the hops in beer which balance the sweet tastes ( syrup? honey?)...has a fruity sweet and sour decernement to it with a touch of maltiness...certainly different than cider..alcohol is well covered in the tastes...I could drink this instead of wine with patio food.
