pootzboy (1031), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Jan 3, 2006 Updated: Jun 15, 2006 bottle: Pours a dark cola-red with a fair off- white cap that has modest retention...some lacing. Aromas of caramalt over a distinct sour/lactal tonewhich seems to be this brewer’s signature....wierd! Tastes only slightly better than it smells weak bodied soapy texture. Malty- toasty, sweet, some cocoa then this God-awful sour-veggy taste....I think its the hops trying to make an appearance but it tastes and smells like celery..weird! GregClow (2492), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 4, 2005 Draught at BeerBistro - 2005 Golden Tap Awards. Dark ruby with a small white head. Strange aroma - like caramel that has gone slightly bad & sour. Flavour is OK, with some coffee and caramel and a mildly bitter finish. Similar to their Celtic, but not nearly as good. blankboy (3156), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 24, 2005 Draught at 2005 Golden Tap Awards at BeerBistro. Pours a clear dark ruby with an average white head. Aroma of sweet malt and sour apple. Taste of metallic caramel malt -- this is not a good taste! Avoid. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Aug 20, 2005 Draught. Sampled at BeerBistro - 2005 GTA Golden Tap Awards. Poured a deep coppery red with an average white head. Aroma was very harsh - sour cranberry juice, sugary roast malt, also a bit sour, a small quantity of very strong green hops as well. Taste - again sour cranberry or black currant, brown sugary medium roasted malt, some balancing hops - overall a bit metallic. Mouthfeel was thin and oily. I didn’t finish my sample - this one’s all over the place and not enough anything. Yet another beer with "Red" in the name to avoid. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2005 This trafalgar brew bears a strikingly similar resemblance to their celtic ale, and to some of their other beers as well. Pours a dark brown body with a beige head. Aromas are mainly malty, with some caramel coming through. Taste is sweet, malty, caramel, bread. Very one dimensional, unbalanced. Unacceptable low level of hop presence. Not red. Not again. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 5, 2005 Bottle. Dark red pour, small white head that disappeared quickly. Aroma was sort of sweet but also quite sour. Taste was more of the same - it was like that homebrew tang x 10. Bottle had April 05 stamp (sampled over Easter). All three bottles by Trafalgar that I bought were bad; drain pours; and this was no exception. iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada Feb 18, 2005 In Otatwa.IMy guess is the dog on the bottle, did his business inthe bottle; maybe they used the water they washed the dog in to brew it. I took two sips, I had to give it a chance. The rest quickly dissappeared down the sink. I could’nt drink it and niether could any of the other people I was with. Vile. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 4, 2004 Bottle. metallic aroma with a slight hop presence. amber colour with a small white head. has a buttery mouthfeel which seems consistent through the Trafalgar beers that I’ve sampled. I’m not too crazy about it, though it is drinkable.
