Commercial Description:
No colouring agents or artificial additives are used in this ancient Lett family recipe. The robust amber colour comes from the judicial use of crystal and carastan malts. Remember the ancient brewery credo, "We only sell what we can't drink ourselves."

Pours with almost no head and a red color. Complex aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Nice and sweet flavors of malt and caramel. A nice enjoyable beer, more malty than hoppy.

Nice red color poured. A bit of malt. Felt balanced, pleasantly surprised it was not bitter.

Orangey red with a short soapy tan head. Modest lacing. Toasty malted aroma. Toffee mild burnt hoppy bitterness. Cookie, and bread crust. Some sour notes. Watery finish. Decent.

Appearance is a clear dark amber with minimal off-white head. Aroma is too mild to be taken seriously, lazy teenager hops. In mouth, there's a water character which doesn't quite help it, hops are shy. An effort can be perceived where a hint is directed toward nuts. It lacks presence and character, period.

Incessant sweet cherry malts ride an indignant caramel syrup...A fruity sketch fetches a watery wretch...Carpe Diem as an unknown concept...

Strong sweet malt aroma. Clear copper colour with anemic fully diminishing head. Mild toastiness and sweet malt flavour with a some bitterness to offset. Medium thin body. Loses carbonation quickly. Drinkable but not inspiring. Bottle.

Tasted in Toronto from the LCBO - bottle 650ml. Deep brown / red colour, foamy white head. Sweet and slightly citrus/spice like aroma. Taste of roasted sweet caramel with a subtle buttery after finish.

Re-rate - Little head, reddish brown body. Needs more malt, and more of the traditional Irish Red flavours. Left the numbers the same. Old rating - Reminds me a lot of something else, but I am not sure what.. A hint of the roasty taste of Murphy's disappears after you swallow it...Better than I expected (I was told it was like Kilkenny, which its not... I dont think.)
